    15th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration. Two day event jumpstarted with Youth Day Program Sunday 1/15/17 beginning at 3pm at Arkansas State University-Jonesboro, AR campus, Student Union Auditorioum located on the 3rd floor. Then, Parade Day Event Monday 1/16/17 patrons will March beginning at 10 AM from New St. John MBC, 308 N. Main Jonesboro, AR to St. Bernard’s Auditorium, 505. E. Washington Ave. Program will begin at 12pm @ St. Bernard’s Auditorium.  The celebration events will end with a Monday night musical at St. Bernard’s Auditorium beginning at 530pm. All events are free with the purpose of getting the community involved in public service work, unification, acceptance for all, and leadership and education for our youth. Parking is free for all 3 events, and is available all around each venue with the exception to the University’s designated areas for students, etc…

    On Sunday, January 15th, from 1:30- 3pm join the Democratic Party of Garland County and the Difference Makers of Hot Springs as we Protest in front of the Democratic Headquarters at 608 West Grand Avenue and busy intersections throughout Hot Springs to tell our legislators to keep their hands off our healthcare. At 2pm Dr. Randy Hill, Chief Medical Officer of the Physicians Network will speak of the benefits of the Medicare and the ACA. Willie Wade Jr. will speak about health inequality and the importance of our Health Unit. Together, we WILL make a difference!

Calvary Church at 12:00 Noon. there will be a Parade March from Second Baptist Church Alabama & Main Streets to Mt. Calvary Church at 225 Moton St. Beside the Middle School. Rev. Ronald Broussard is Pastor and our Guest Speaker is Rev. Jerome Bridgers Pastor of St. Luke AME Church. As a way of service to our community, those attending are asked to bring can goods to go to the Lee County Dream Food Pantry. This will be a way of helping feed the hungry families in the Lee County Area

    The Democratic Party of Washington County shall host the January meeting on Monday, January 16th, for the purpose of electing County Committee Officers.

    Election of Officers. County Committees shall convene in January, immediately after the General Election for the purpose of electing a Chair, Vice Chair, who shall be of the opposite sex of the Chair, a Secretary and a Treasurer. Each office shall not be combined or held by more than one person at a time. Other officer positions may be created by majority vote of those present and voting. Officers and members serve for two (2) year terms until the convening of the next officer election in January after the next general election.
