Former Senator John Glenn, one of my personal heros, has passed away. I had the honor of campaigning for Senator Glenn in Ohio, and in 1983 he accepted my invitation as chair of the JJ Dinner to come to Arkansas as our honored guest. At the dinner, Senator Glenn was presented with an original ‘Colonel Glenn’ street sign.
A dear friend of Senator David Pryor and Senator Dale Bumpers, Glenn and wife Annie, who had speech impediment, were known to help people with children who faced the same challenge – including my family.
Some of us remember when he was the first American to orbit the earth, but all of us can appreciate the way he lived his life. John Glenn fought for Democratic principles and changed the lives of millions.
He was a true American hero.
God Bless the Glenn Family.
Vincent Insalaco, Chairman
