The delegate selection process, as required by the Democratic National Committee, ensures that our delegation reflects the diversity of Arkansas’s people. It requires that we have African Americans, Asian Americans, Caucasians, Latinos & Hispanic Americans, LGBT people, Native Americans, seniors, youths, veterans, and Arkansans with disabilities. This transparent, democratic process taps into our Party’s closely held values of diversity and inclusion.
The convention to elect delegates will be held June 11 at 9 a.m. at the Farris Center on campus at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. More information on the June 11 convention is forthcoming, but be aware that it will likely be a day-long affair.
Please let me emphasize that this complex process will require your patience. On June 11, ten delegates will be elected for Senator Bernie Sanders and twenty-two delegates will be elected for Secretary Hillary Clinton. Hundreds of people will likely seek these limited delegate positions. If you’re running for delegate, I want to encourage you to get engaged. Talk to the people who filed FORM A and can vote on June 11.
